SSSA BOARD MEETING MINUTES NOVEMBER 10,, 2021

Attendees -  Ken Shepard, Frank Lyons, Bob D’Angelo, Jack Zimmerman, Gary Goldberg, Ron Giovannucci, Chuck Cason, Luis Negrete. Absent _  George Wacaser .

 

  1.  Call to order- 12:06 PM.

  2.  Meeting minutes – voted on and unanimously approved.

  3.  Financial Report - Treasurers report indicates that SSSA is in good financial shape. League dues continue to be collected, and all outstanding bills are currently paid.  Report approved unanimously.

Old Business

  1. Update on winter registration fees- Indicated that there are still 80 players who have not submitted fees as of November 10th.  

  2.   Screen 4 has been repaired and returned to the storage shed. 

  3.  It was voted unanimously, that all games will be cancelled on the Friday  November 25th for the Thanksgiving holiday, and December 24 for the Christmas holiday..

  4.  The process of distributing red envelopes, containing player’s health information and emergency contact, will begin on November 12. Envelopes will be provided to Managers for distribution.

  5.  Discussed and agreed to post an ad on the SSSA website for volunteer umpires. This will be for the Silver league games as a test trial.

  6.  A request was made to allow call ups without equal ratings to replace a missing player. Both the team managers and the BOD agreed to not changing this .

  7.  Opened a discussion on retaining managers from year to year.  Topic to be followed up at next meeting.

  8.  Silver Teams protest – Team 2 vs. Team 3 Team managers presented their sides of the issue that centered around a player not veering on a close play at second base. It was agreed that the play stood and that managers will clarify the rule with their team players

New Business

  1.   Suggestion on having a storage box at Richardson fields to eliminate equipment be moved between fields. Ken Shepard will discuss with the county to see what is acceptable.

  2.    Ron Giovannucci  introduced a new pitching screen for consideration. He will look into more details for the next meeting 

  3.  Decide on playing games on December 23rd at next BOD meeting.
